Lent Season Year A

February 13th - March 26th, 2005

The Lenten Season is a time when believers firmly resolve to deliberately engage in the creative activity of greater personal mastery. Through prayer, abstaining, study of God's word and daily practical application of the teachings of Jesus Christ, we fast from error thinking and clarify the eternal truth that in God’s Omnipresence, we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28).

During Lent we pay special attention to deepening the vision of the spiritual dimensions of our lives and the things of God. We focus our energy and look within our souls. We listen to our intuition. We remember that we are eternal spiritual being temporarily dwelling in our physical bodies.

We are reminded that our physical bodies are but dust. We therefore we cross out carnal and worldly mental models and follow Jesus, the Christ, in experiencing our higher Self as God's eternal indwelling Christ Presence, the Light, Life and Love of the Almighty. We remember that we are the image and likeness of God. Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:7).

Through faith, grace, truth and the power of the Holy Spirit, believers take this inward spiritual journey by releasing all error states of mind. This requires fasting, cleansing and disciplining the heart, mind and body toward the end that our souls are more receptive to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the will of the indwelling Christ of God. Under the loving guidance, supervision and authority of the Christ of God we follow Jesus in establishing the kingdom of Christ and his righteousness first within us and then in our midst (Matthew 6:33, Luke 17:20-21).

This stepped up period and process of fasting from sin (missing the mark in judgment) and seeking Truth, enables believers to more effectively remove the mental, emotional and physical barriers that block health, wholeness, peace of mind and the true and lasting communion with God which Jesus revealed and modeled for mankind during his visible life on our planet.

Through prayer, reflection, dialogue, individual and group Bible study, believers work through these dynamic personal, interpersonal and community processes which really matter in our lives with openness, honesty, repentance, forgiveness and unconditional love. We turn within in full surrender to the Christ of God, our hope of glory (Colossians 1:26 -27). By contemplation, meditation and daily practical application of the inner spiritual meaning of Jesus’ passion, death we prepare our minds to abide in Christ Consciousness.

During Lent believers progressively prepare our hearts and souls as open channels to receive and share the glorious Easter experiences of Christ-centered resurrection and abundant life.
