Season After Pentecost
May 18th, 2008 - November 29th, 2008
The Season After Pentecost is the final and the longest season of the Christian church year. It is also called Ordinary Time. It begins on Trinity Sunday and ends on the Last Sunday After Pentecost. This is the time the church commemorates its faith and endeavors to live out its mission in the power of the Holy Spirit.
During this season we will focus on the various aspects of the life and pilgrimage of the spiritually awake followers of Jesus Christ after the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost. The ultimate result of this in filling and out-pouring of the Holy Spirit is spiritual discernment, new courage and power to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel of Christ which Jesus of Nazareth realized.
The Season of Pentecost is therefore the ideal time for identifying and encouraging believers to imitate Jesus Christ in calling up and manifesting these twelve spiritual powers and faculties of the indwelling Christ of God in the spiritual nature of all people. It is very important that believers recognize through the power of the Word and the Holy Spirit, these powers form the twelve foundations of the walls of the kingdom of God which we Jesus calls us to co-create, in our midst and within us (Luke 17:20-21, Revelations 21:14).
The powers of the Christ of God are revealed in the spiritual meaning of the names of Jesus’ twelve apostles. They are Faith – Peter, Strength – Andrew, Wisdom – James son of Zebedee, Love – John, Power- Philip, Imagination – Nathaniel, Understanding – Thomas, Will – Matthew, Order – James son of Alphaeus, Zeal – Simon of the Cananaean, Renunciation – Thaddeus, and spiritually dead Life Conserver – Judas now replaced by a spiritually awake Life Conserver - Matthias (Acts 1:1-2, 13-14, 26).
In order to facilitate the inner revelation, mastery and outer manifestation of these powers, we encourage believers to seek and serve the Christ of God in their spiritual core and develop a passionate love for the indwelling Christ of God in all people. Through repentance and surrender to the Christ of God we seek unity in our relationships with God each other.
By abiding in Christ Consciousness, and imitating Jesus of Nazareth, we discover our role, mission and ministry as members of the body of Christ in establishing the kingdom of God in our midst and within us.
